Daikin is one of the most common aircon brands in Singapore homes, from single wall units to System 2, 3 and 4 multi-splits sharing one outdoor unit. When a Daikin unit stops on a fault it blinks the green operation lamp on the indoor unit, and the remote can read out a two-character code telling you, and the technician, what went wrong.

How to read a Daikin error code

Point the remote at the indoor unit while the green operation lamp is blinking.
Press and hold the CANCEL (timer cancel) button for about five seconds, until "00" appears on the remote display.
Press CANCEL again repeatedly. Each press shows the next code; the unit gives a short beep for a wrong code.
When the unit gives a long continuous beep, the code on the remote is the fault. Note it down before you call.

Blinking light? A blinking green light means the unit has stopped itself to protect the compressor or fan. Switch it off at the isolator switch for 5 to 10 minutes and restart it. If the light blinks again, read the code: a one-off blink after a power trip is harmless, a repeat is a fault.

A6	Indoor fan motor fault	Blower jammed by dirt, or a failed fan motor.
A1	Indoor PCB fault	Control board fault; needs a technician to test and replace.
E7	Outdoor fan motor fault	Fan blocked, or the outdoor fan motor has failed.
E6	Compressor failed to start	Can follow a power surge; can also mean a compressor or capacitor fault.
F3	Discharge pipe temperature too high	Commonly low refrigerant or a blocked outdoor coil.
C4 / C9	Indoor thermistor (temperature sensor) fault	C4 is the coil sensor, C9 the room-air sensor. Sensor or wiring replacement.
U2	Abnormal power supply voltage	Voltage drop or an electrical fault. If it repeats, stop using the unit.

Codes and the remote button sequence vary by model. Confirm against your unit's manual or the label on the indoor unit, and give the code to the technician when you book.

Servicing Daikin Aircons in Singapore: What to Know

On a System 2, 3 or 4, every fan coil shares one outdoor condenser, so a fault outdoors can stop all rooms at once. Service the condenser as well as the fan coils.
Newer Daikin wall units such as the EZi series run on R32 refrigerant; older ones use R410A or R22. The refrigerant decides the gas top-up price.
If one fan coil in a system leaks or freezes while the others are fine, the problem is in that unit, not the shared outdoor unit.

Daikin Aircon FAQs

The blinking green operation lamp means the unit has stopped itself on a fault or protection. Switch it off at the isolator for 5 to 10 minutes and restart. If it blinks again, read the error code with the remote (hold CANCEL for five seconds, then step through the codes until the unit beeps continuously) and give the code to the technician.

U4 means the indoor and outdoor units have stopped communicating. First check that the outdoor unit has power and its isolator is on. If it does, the cause is usually loose or corroded wiring between the units or a control board fault, which needs a technician.
