How an Aircond Chemical Wash Is Done
For units with mould, a sour smell or weak cooling that a normal service no longer fixes.
1. Wall and floor protected
A wash bag is hung under the unit and the area below is covered.
2. Covers and filters removed
The casing and filters come off so the coil and blower can be reached.
3. Chemical sprayed on the coil
A coil cleaning chemical is sprayed on and left to loosen mould and grime.
4. Coil and blower rinsed
Coil and blower are rinsed with a pressure washer into the wash bag.
5. Drain cleared
The drain tray and pipe are flushed so the dirty water drains away.
6. Reassembled and tested
The unit is closed up and run, and the outlet temperature is compared with before.
7. Compressor and gas checked
The outdoor unit and gas pressure are checked; extra work is quoted first.

In Malaysia's humidity, the coil inside your aircond is wet every time it runs - and in bedrooms that is most nights. Dust from the room sticks to the wet fins and turns into a sticky film. Mould grows on that film and on the curved blades of the blower wheel, where the air rushes past on its way to you.
